How does holistic assessment help my child?

Sprig’s holistic assessment has improved literacy outcomes and successfully engaged caregivers in student learning. With over 100 schools across Canada and over 8,000 students, we’ve seen tremendous results:

  • Reading behaviours increased by 52%.
  • Early learning achievement outcomes related to listening increased by 21%.
  • Early learning achievement outcomes related to speaking increased by 17%.
  • On average, 85% of caregivers engaged and involved in the assessment.

The holistic approach ensures the assessment is linked to the curriculum and includes the development of classroom material that supports existing instructional practices. It also helps alleviate cultural biases and provides every child with the opportunity to demonstrate what they can do to the best of their abilities.

Caregivers are seeing this as an engaging tool for their children that connects caregivers to the school and provides them with learning activities that foster their child’s learning.

Educators feel a great ownership over the assessment, leading to increased reliability in the results, greater involvement in its implementation, and an overall appreciation for the benefits of assessment.

Most importantly, students find a fun, engaging assessment tool that produces better, more accurate results.
